Hohe Tauern National Park centre
Since the summer of 2007 the new National Park centre in Mittersill (4 km) has been home to the unique alpine world of experience around the highest peak in Austria (Großglockner, 3,798 m), 266 other three thousand metre peaks, over 342 glaciers and one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world. And all of this in one place!
In 8 experience stations, which lead you through the national park from one natural space to the next, you can uncover and understand the remarkable diversity of this area. Highlights include the eagle flight panorama, a fascinating 3D computer animation showing the development of the Tauern window, the Lawine waterfalls and the glacier world.
Tauern Spa Kaprun
At the end of 2010 the TauernSpa opened in Kaprun and is located only 20 minutes away from our hotel by car. Felberturm museum in Mittersill
Numerous exhibits of rural craftsmanship, folk culture and traditions await you in the most comprehensive historical collection in the Salzburg region.
Particularly noteworthy are the mineral exhibition with treasures from the Hohe Tauern National Park area and the historic classroom from the 19th century. There are also other exhibitions covering religious art, the history of alpine skiing and rural crafts.
Bramberg museum of local history
In this Pinzgau farmhouse you will find the largest exhibition of minerals in Salzburg with over 520 exhibits of different minerals, crystallised quartz and fascinating emerald ores from the Hohe Tauern region. Further exhibitions about crafts, bee-keeping, traditions, religious art and the open-air district make this museum a special feature of this region.
