More than just skiing

Our region also has a lot to offer for non-skiers – whether cross-country ski runs, winter hiking paths or the 14 km long toboggan run in Wildkogel … the possibilities are almost endless. For a romantic experience, take a horse-driven sleigh ride.

Cross-country skiing

A special pleasure awaits experienced followers of this Nordic sport: the perfectly prepared 130km long Pinzgau cross-country ski run, which crosses the Pinzgau from Krimml to Zell am See. The run is well-prepared for both classic cross-country skiers and skaters. Make your tracks in this wonderful scenery and discover the romantic small towns along the way.

The Hochmoor cross-country ski run

This ski run is appropriately named: situated in the “Wasenmoos” moor region, this idyllically located landscape for cross-country skiing starts from the middle station of the Kitzbüheler Alps panorama lift. The ski runs take you down into the heavily snow-covered forests, where you can still enjoy “proper” peace and the breath-taking views of the gigantic mountains of the Hohe Tauern region. Thanks to its height (1,250m), snow is guaranteed in the area and there are ski-runs of all difficulty levels.

Tobogganing

You definitely shouldn’t miss the opportunity to try out the 14 km long toboggan run at Wildkogel, either during the day time or at night. Tobogganing is great fun for all age groups.

Every Thursday and Friday you can climb up there on the emerald lift in Bramberg and on Saturday with the Wildkogel lifts in Neukirchen up until 18:30. After a 15 minute walk on foot you’ll then reach the start of the run towards Bramberg. The entire length of the toboggan run is illuminated until 22:00.

Toboggans can be hired from the local sports shops.

Horse-driven sleigh rides

Travelling through the beautiful wintry landscape on the silent runners of a horse-driven sleigh, whilst wrapped up warmly, is a magical pleasure. Combine this with a stop for refreshments in a local tavern, and the sleigh ride becomes a wonderfully festive trip. Speak to the coach driver to arrange your own personal tour.

Winter hikes

Enjoy our wintry mountain landscape during a winter walk away from the slopes. Winter hiking paths take you through the beautiful snow-covered forests and past frozen streams. Picnic stations and traditional cosy restaurants invite you to stop for a snack to round off your hiking experience.
