Hiking in the Hohe Tauern National Park – an all-round experience
Hiking for everyone
Our hotel is an ideal starting point for many hikes and excursions. For example, you can travel directly from the hotel to the summit of the Pihapper (2.513m) with its fantastic views of Salzachtal, the Northern limestone Alps and Felbertal.
The Rauris valley is ca. 40 km from our hotel and is home to our "FLATSCHERALM" alpine pasture (ca. 1.600m), where even our own cows can enjoy the summer. It can be easily reached by car or you can travel on foot along the well signposted hiking path. Senner Adi is the perfect place to stop and enjoy the best Pinzgau delicacies.
The route from Felbertal to the St. Pöltner Hütte (2.481m) is particularly scenic and passes by the Hintersee natural monument (1.313m). Families with young children can travel to the Hintersee by car. If you’re lucky, you’ll also be able to see the chamois.
Hobby hikers can explore the Wasenmoos nature reserve in the Kitzbüheler Alps. The wetlands at 1,240m above sea level offer an exceptionally idyllic landscape with rare animal and plant species.
The Stream Nature Trail offers a particularly special way of experiencing nature. It is located at the entrance to the Hollersbach valley and leads the way down into the valley along the eastern bank. Eleven charts provide information at distinctive points about the characteristics of the Hollersbach valley and descriptions of the scenery and its creatures.
Rugged, ice-covered three thousand metre peaks await experienced, well-equipped and persistent mountaineers in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Anyone wishing to scale the glacier should involve an expert mountaineer during the planning stage at the latest.
The new Kitzbüheler Alps panorama lift operates during the summer and transports you in only a few minutes to the Resterhöhe / Kitzbüheler Alps region, with its unparalleled panoramas of the three thousand metre peaks in Hohe Tauern.
