The most famous alpine road takes you past the Ferleiten wildlife park and directly into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Here you will found Austria’s highest mountain, the Großglockner (3,798 m), and its glacier, the Pasterze. A special nature and driving experience awaits you as you climb up to 2,504 metres on the 48 kilometre long high alpine road with 36 hair-pin bends! You will travel through a unique mountain landscape with flourishing alpine meadows, fragrant mountain forests, mighty rocks and endless ice until you reach the foot of the Großglockner, the Kaiser-Franz-Josef height!

Krimmler waterfalls
The Krimmler waterfalls (ca. 30 km away), with their impressive fall height of 380 m, are the fifth highest waterfalls in the world and the highest in Europe.
A well supported hiking path takes you directly to this breath-taking natural spectacle and offers unparalleled views. Experience the refreshing spray and the impressive power of the water against the wonderful backdrop of the Hohe Tauern National Park. At the end of your visit the path crosses directly over into the beautiful Krimmler Achen valley.
Kaprun high mountain reservoirs
The Mooserboden and Wasserfallboden reservoirs are located at around 2,000 m above sea level – and nestled between the imposing rocks of the Hohe Tauern.
Europe’s biggest open inclined lift and a bus shuttle service transport you in comfort to the Mooserboden reservoir, located at 2,000 m above sea level. Once there you can take part in a guided tour around the dam or visit the exhibition showing images of the endless ice on the glacier. All around, the breath-taking scenery invites you to go for a hike and see it in all its glory.
Zell am See
The town of Zell am See is only 25 kilometres away from Stuhlfelden. It is the economic and political centre of Pinzgau and one of the most beautiful and well-known places in Austria. During your stay at the Hotel Flatscher you should certainly consider taking a boat trip on Lake Zell or a stroll through the town centre.
